Phosphine Fumigation. Phosphine is used as a phytosanitary treatment for grain silos, seeds, plant products, dry fruits, dates, and many more products. It is generally used in a gaseous state or as pellets of aluminum phosphide, which reacts with air moisture to release phosphine gas.
Aluminum phosphide can be used to eliminate insect infestations in a variety of commodities, including animal feed and feed ingredients, corn, cottonseed, grass seed, millet, oats, peanuts, pecans, popcorn, rye, sorghum, soybeans, triticale, and wheat.
They can be used on some nonfood commodities including straw and hay, cotton, feathers, tobacco, dried plants and ﬂowers, and seeds.
