Termidor Review | Does Termidor really work as termite and ant killer?

Termidor is a clear choice, for termite or ant treatment, when only the best will do. Termidor is the new standard in Termite and Ant control world-wide. Products come and go. Some are better than others. I plan to give you my take of the effectiveness and longevity of the termite treatment products I review. My opinion isn’t the final word by any means, but trying new things and then having years to measure the results, is worth passing along to my clients and the world.

Features of Termidor

Termidor is made up of 91.9% of inert ingredients whereas the rest of the 9.1% consists of an ingredient known as “Fipronil”.

Fipronil is an active ingredient that has been marked safe for use with no harm to humans and pets by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The ingredient remains harmless unless or until it is ingested.

Termidor is odorless and is made from a nonrepellent or “undetectable” chemical technology.

Furthermore, it controls subterranean termites, including the extremely destructive Formosan subterranean termites, damp wood termites, and dry wood termites

However, it contaminates water so if there is a water body on your property avoid using it on the grounds, especially near any waterways. Keep in mind Termidor is toxic humans, fish, and wildlife if ingested.

How to Apply Termidor Yourself

The application of Termidor isn’t too technical. If you want to do it yourself and don’t want to spend hundreds and even thousands of shillings on pest control companies, please watch the below video and step-by-step instructions to learn how you can apply this product.

Get started with digging a trench of 6 inches wide and 6 inches deep around the base of your house. It is necessary and it doesn’t matter if your house is built on blocks or slabs.
Wear gloves and other protective gear like Goggles, Face Mask, etc.
Start by pouring one-third of the water into a sprayer. If you don’t have a sprayer you can use a bucket to fill it with water.
Add the correct amount of Termidor as prescribed on the label.
Fill the water to the top and wait 2-3 minutes so that Termidor dissolves in water.
Spray or Pour the Termidor in the trench you dug in step1. Make sure you apply 15L of Termidor for every 10 feet of the length of your trench.

How Long does Termidor Last?

Termidor termite barriers will provide complete termite protection for 10 years. We recommend yearly termite inspections as part of the 10-year life expectancy to ensure the termite-treated zone isn’t weakened or breached by conducive conditions.

Conducive conditions may include

Hot water drip tubes or A/C drip tubes dripping against wall edges (Moisture attracts termites)
Landscaping modifications
Mulch against wall edges or treated zones
Drainage issues

Can Termidor Get Rid of Ants?

Termidor works extremely well on ants also due to its transfer effect, Ants can be eliminated from lawns using the product. Usually, we will apply a fine spray over the top of the grass and lawn areas using enough product to wet the soil. This means when the grass is cut the Termidor will still be bonded to the soil.

As ants pass through the treated areas and then underground to their nests, complete elimination is achieved through the transfer effect.

What Makes Termidor Different From Other Termite Control Options?

Like many other termite control products, Termidor is a liquid—but that’s where the similarities end. Among liquid termiticides, Termidor is the most effective. That’s because Termidor is undetectable so termites neither avoid its treatment zone nor try to find a way around it.

Some nonrepellent liquids claim to be “nearly,” “practically,” or “almost” as effective, but the difference between “almost as good as Termidor” and Termidor itself can make all the difference in the world when it comes to protecting your home from termites.
